WATCH: Wojciech Szczesny is the World Cup’s best goalkeeper and daddy

There are images that can hardly be forgotten. Like the one that portrays the son of the Poland goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, in tears over the elimination of his father’s team from the World Cup in Qatar. The little one, 4 years old, together with his mother Marina reached the hotel where the team is staying a few hours before the eighth final against France.

Then, he watched the match at the stadium. The outcome, however, was not the one hoped for: the team of Mbappé and his companions was too strong, the final result 3-1. Liam was unable to hold back the tears and it was dad Wojciech who consoled him, in a video that has already gone viral.

Wojciech Szczesny has been arguably the best goalkeeper of the World Cup so far in Qatar, but the Juventus man also proved he’s an excellent Daddy after comforting his child over Poland’s elimination. Szczesny performed heroics in goal for his country, including the denial of two penalties, but was unable to prevent France from securing a 3-1 victory in the Round of 16 this afternoon.

There was no time for him to feel bad about their elimination, as he immediately had to focus on comforting his young child in the tunnel, who was crying at the news of defeat for Poland. At the international level, Szczęsny has earned 70 caps for Poland since his debut in 2009, and was included in the nation’s squad as it co-hosted UEFA Euro 2012, also later taking part at Euro 2016, the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
