Watch France destroy Australia and Giroud equal the all-time record
France has started the adventure in the World Cup after defeating Australia 4-1 in the valuable match for Group D, which is now led by the defending champions.
The match played at the Al Janoub Stadium did not start well for the French, who found themselves at the disadvantage of a goal scored by Goodwin after just nine minutes and at the same time lost Lucas Hernandez due to injury.
However, Deschamps’ team managed to overturn the result in the first half and more precisely in the space of five minutes. Rabiot tied the match at 1-1 in the 27th minute and Giroud scored the second goal in the 32nd.
Two more goals came in the second half for the reigning world champions. Kylian Mbappe scored the third in the 68th minute and the fourth goal was again scored by Giroud, who joined Henry as France’s top scorer with 51 goals.
The reigning champions will return to action in four days to face Denmark in the second week of Group D.
