Jamie Carragher has predicted the remainder of the World Cup

The World Cup has reached the quarter-final stage. Croatia will face pre-World Cup favorites Brazil in the first game of the quarter-finals this Friday.

The Netherlands have been impressive in their run to the last 16, but have a tough task to overcome Argentina. Morocco will try to stun another giant like Portugal. Meanwhile, the reigning world champions, France, will face off against England.

But how will the rest of the World Cup go? Jamie Carragher has given his predictions for the remainder of the tournament. Watch below…

Quarterfinals

Croatia-Brazil: “Pick Brazil. They look like one of the best teams in the tournament. A lot of people’s favorites and I think they will do it,” said the Liverpool legend.

Netherlands-Argentina: “There are two equal national teams. But I will go with Argentina. The Lionel Messi factor will be decisive”, said Carragher.

Morocco-Portugal: “I believe Portugal will win this match. They have a lot of class, they were outstanding in the last game against Switzerland. They will come out on top and be in the semi-finals.”

England-France: “Difficult… hearts or heads win. I pick France. I think they just have the edge over England. I think it’s down to Kylian Mbappe. Without Mbappe, England would be the big favourites.”

Semifinals

Brazil-Argentina: “I said before the competition that Argentina would win, but looking at the matches and the teams, I think Brazil will win in the semi-finals.”

Portugal-France: “I’m picking France because of the Mbappe factor. He’s the best player in the tournament – the best player in the world at the moment.”

Final

Brazil-France: “I think Brazil can do it.”

Thus, Carragher believes that Brazil will triumph in Qatar. The Seleçao have been impressive in the tournament so far and have been boosted by the return of Neymar, who was forced to miss two of their group games with an ankle injury.

Carragher predicts they will eliminate Croatia, Lionel Messi’s Argentina and France on their way to a sixth World Cup triumph.

Carragher does not believe England will end their 56-year trophy drought. The Liverpool legend believes Gareth Southgate’s side will be beaten by France in their quarter-final clash.
