Brazil in trouble, two stars say goodbye to the World Cup

Brazil duo Alex Telles and Gabriel Jesus are out of the World Cup, according to reports. The Arsenal star picked up a knee injury against Cameroon, while the Manchester United left-back was injured in the 1-0 defeat.

Telles was substituted early in the second period on Friday, 10 minutes before the forward was sent off. With the Samba Boys already assured of their place in the Round of 16, Tite activated both from the first minute in the final group game.

But it was a costly night for the five-time World Cup winners, who suffered their first group stage defeat in 24 years and lost two key players. According to Brazilian newspaper Globo, the pair will not play any more matches in Qatar.

The players underwent tests on Saturday morning and received the bad news when the results came back. Jesus could be out for around a month, which immediately puts him in a race against time to be ready for Arsenal’s Boxing Day game against West Ham.

Meanwhile, the case of Telle is thought to be the most serious. The 29-year-old left the field in tears and may be forced to undergo surgery after also damaging his knee.

Very bad news for Brazil, who are still worried about the fitness of Neymar, who has missed the last two games and is a doubt for the round of 16 match with South Korea.
